When planning our annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas for NAB 2016, we, the marketing team at Intertrust, opted to forego hosting a cocktail party, and to participate instead as a registered team in the NAB 4K 4Charity Run. After all, “when in Vegas,” is not often followed by the words “run for charity” and we thought now would be a great time to motivate the company to participate in a philanthropic effort.
After intense deliberation, we settled on 3 participants:
Dash Pinger, who was by far our fastest runner, finished the 4K in 13:20. Standing at 6’3, he is a lean mean running machine known for stopping by Golden Gate Park on his drive home to stretch his legs and run a leisurely 5 miles. This is far from his peak ability though, which extends to 35 miles or more in ultra-marathons.
Guido, who goes by first name only, and heads the technology projects for Intertrust Europe, is Italian by origin and typically prefers cycling. In fact, he often competes in amateur road races and time-trials, plus he scuba dives all over the world. He took our in-house silver medal, coming in at 17:14. When asked what his strategy was for the 4K, he answered, “the thing that motivates me when I am about to finish a race is to picture the massive pizza I am going to devour when it’s all done!”
Beth Kindig, Product Evangelist, stopped for nature photography in the flat Nevada park, yet still beat her goal of 15 minute miles with a time of 21:45. Where she lacks in speed, she makes up for in adrenaline, eating up her PTO with escapades that involve helicopters, 14,000 foot mountains, and avalanche gear.
