New service gives Japanese audiences access to premium content
Tokyo and Sunnyvale, CA, January 26, 2015 -- Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774) and Intertrust announced today that IIJ Video Service using Intertrust’s ExpressPlay™ content protection solution, which supports the Marlin Digital Rights Management (DRM) open standard.
Developed by Intertrust. ExpressPlay is a cloud DRM system that is a technology comprehensive solution that provides support for multiple DRM technologies include Marlin, to a broad set of Internet-connected devices. Silicon Valley-based Intertrust develops technologies for trusted computing, personal data protection, and big data, and is a co-founder of the Marlin DRM standard. ExpressPlay has wide global adoption and is rapidly growing as the content protection system chosen by national Internet TV initiatives and OTT service providers.
IIJ’s service will use the IIJ GIO Cloud Transcode Package to convert large amounts of content in the cloud. By using ExpressPlay, content can be protected at the point of conversion, which lowers costs and improves the quality of the content delivered.
