Fujitsu licenses Intertrust’s Marlin Client SDK


Sunnyvale, CA August 24, 2011 - Intertrust Technologies Corporation today announced that Fujitsu has licensed Intertrust’s Marlin Client Software Development Kit (SDK). As a result, Fujitsu can now offer a complete end-to-end media distribution system for multiple media types including Audio/Visual and eBooks based on the Marlin DRM Broadband Delivery Specification.

Intertrust’s Marlin Client SDK is the most comprehensive and portable Marlin client toolkit on the market. It is available for a broad range of computing platforms, including Windows, MacOS, and Linux on embedded operating systems such as iOS, Android, and a variety of set top box and mobile environments. This combined with its robustness, scalability, and broad adoption make many customers demand it.

Marlin DRM is now the true standard for DRM and media content distribution, with a rapidly growing global user base, and has had recent success in several national initiatives and corporate deployments including:

  • YouView – the UK’s Broadcaster and Broadband provider led initiative to provide a national open platform for Internet TV distribution selected Marlin as their DRM technology due to its openness, flexibility and multi-platform capabilities
  • Tivù – Italy’s primary operators of open, horizontal digital television platforms: terrestrial and satellite, supplying different services: EPG, encryption, branding and communication selected Marlin DRM as their DRM technology for the Italian national Over the Top Television platform
  • TNT2.0 – The French national initiative to set standards for terrestrial and Over the Top Television formats now specifies Marlin DRM as an official DRM choice in their technology specifications for France
  • Dozens of major Consumer Electronics, Telco and Chipset industry adopters - Marlin technology is present in every Internet-connected TV sold in Japan, set top box majors such as Huawei and Humax, and network media systems such as Philips NetTV use Marlin to protect valuable content and provide and exciting and easy to use consumer experience.
