UHD (ultra-high definition) TVs are rapidly gaining strength in the overall TV market. In 2013, the first year of sales, UHD TV sales accounted for 5% of total TV shipments; this year, they are expected to grow to 12% of total TV shipments. According toDisplaySearch, 12.1 million UHD TVs were shipped worldwide in 2014, and are poised to double this year to 28 million, and expected to grow to 100 million in 2018. At this point, it is clear that UHD TV is rapidly becoming a mainstream market.
