Evio Announces Complete Stack Solution Fully Based On Intertrust ExpressPlay XCA

Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, NV – January 10, 2019 – Evio Polska today announced the availability of their conditional access system, eCAS™, based on Intertrust Technologies Corporation ExpressPlay XCA™, the world’s first open standard based video Conditional Access platform. XCA is available on set top boxes and SmartTVs and is driving the convergence between Broadcast and Broadband Internet television. Operators using XCA can leverage an ecosystem of components and services from SoC makers, Smart TV manufacturers and head-end providers, all of whom have rallied around a standards-based video security technology.

Evio’s is the world’s first third party broadcast TV platform with fully integrated client and headend which is fully compatible with XCA. Currently, Evio provides complete solutions using Marlin DRM-based technologies from Intertrust. Through Evio, operators can rely on a growing base of Smart TVs and set top boxes, and are free from many of the costs of traditional hardware and “cardless” CA systems.

“Evio’s system shows that partner infrastructure providers can easily build on XCA,” said Kenny Huang, General Manager of Intertrust Media Solutions. “Working rapidly after our launch last year, Evio has created a full-stack offer for operators that is robust and ready to use.”

Since Intertrust works with SoC providers and device makers to integrate XCA client technology in Smart TVs and other end-point devices, and since XCA is based on the Marlin standard, which was created by Intertrust, Panasonic, Philips, Sony and Samsung, back-end providers and operators can trust that consumers will find a broad base of devices without needing to deal with the device side themselves.

“XCA is a modern and cost-effective content protection platform that merges the best of Broadcast and Broadband TV,” said Przemek Gnitecki, CEO of Evio. “As the consumer experience in the home becomes seamless, so should the back-end technology and working with Intertrust, the inventor of DRM is by far the best way to go.”
