In the mid-1980s, Victor Shear, the founder of Intertrust, had a visionary idea: to inject increasingly higher levels of trust into computing.
Shear and his colleagues created a set of innovations so operating systems could secure data and computations and enable trusted transactions over open networks. The effort resulted in the company filing one of the most definitive patent portfolios seen in the last fifty years: Intertrust’s 1995 “Big Book” patent.
At over 1000 pages it is considered one of the most definitive inventions in the history of secure computing. The company’s inventive work did not end there.
The company has grown from its roots as a research lab to a vibrant technology company active in providing trusted computing services for broad vertical markets in the era of big data. These markets currently range from media distribution and device identity / authentication, to smart grid security / analytics and cloud storage security.
At over 1000 pages, Intertrust’s 1995 “Big Book” is considered one of the most definitive inventions in the history of secure computing.
